Over the last few years, Hegoa, operating between London and the Basque Country, has made significant strides in showcasing the obscure world of contemporary experimental and archival music emerging from the Basque region, an autonomous community in northern Spain with its own distinct cultural traditions and language. Here, we can see the label works across various disciplines, including record releases, radio, with programs on international stations such as NTS (London) and Dia! (Saint-Jean-de-Luz); and live music events, with performances at venues like Cafe OTO London, Kampai Bilbao, Kontenedora San Sebastián, and Bistrot St Esprit Bayonne. The label also works to recover archival video material, such as the documentaries on Llorenç Barber, "Sonar Ciudades," and on Jorge Oteiza, "Casa Vacía." All of this has been reflected on specialized media ranging from publications such as The Wire, The Quietus, AMA Artium, Basque on Decks, Soundohm, Berria, Eitb Kultura, or Argia among others.
